weekend things and wheels up.

bedroom mantle scene.

Hello! I hope you had a lovely weekend. Mine was even more uneventful than usual because I came down with a gross cold on Friday (and I know you're wondering how it's possible for my weekends to get more low-key than they already are, but hey, I'm an overachiever when it comes to being a sloth). I did nothing on Saturday aside from going through an entire box of tissues, and on Sunday I was feeling a little better so I took a Pure Barre intensive class. I promptly canceled any benefits from said class by going to the Little Tap House for a burger and beer, and then I started packing for Helsinki (I leave Wednesday and I'm super excited). And if you have any recommendations, send them my way--we're definitely going to Löyly and have a couple of restaurants lined up, but I'm otherwise going to figure things out on the fly.

TGIF.

I love my street.

It's a miracle, we made it to Friday. This week was much more manageable on the work front, and the best thing happened on Tuesday: my sister came up from Pittsburgh so I went down to MA to surprise her at my parent's house. My brother and nieces came up and we had an amazing and delish dinner. It was so much fun to catch up in person after not seeing her for months, and I can't wait for our next rendezvous at Thanksgiving.

In other news, I finally had Trader Joe's cauliflower gnocchi and I'm obsessed: I used this recipe to cook it so it was super crispy and I just topped with their new autumnal harvest alfredo sauce (I added some brown sugar to the sauce because I like my squash-related dishes on the sweeter side) and Parmesan. So good.

I'm looking forward to doing absolutely nothing this weekend. Have a good one!

fri-yay.

I am so glad it's Friday. This week was a long one and I'm really tired. I'm looking forward to a relatively low-key weekend with lots of couch time (and Olive snuggles, which I suppose goes without saying).

Some highlights from this week:

  • I had drinks with my BFF S. from law school--she works in Hartford and I'm going to be traveling to Connecticut a lot more for work which means there will be lots of meet ups in our future. We lived a block and a half away from each other on Marlborough Street when we were in school (I still miss that apartment), and I love being able to get together with her more frequently.
  • I ordered the iPhone 7--I was due for an upgrade, so it was free and it came yesterday. I'm pretty excited and I just need this case to arrive and I'll be in business (because knowing me, I'll drop it and ruin it if I try to use it without the case).
  • I started Pure Barre again. They were running a special (6 weeks unlimited for $100) and it was too good to pass up. It's far from where I live now, but I know it's going to be worth it because a) it worked before b) paying for classes makes me work out. I'm already so sore from going on Wednesday.
So that's it--have a great weekend!

maine bound.

After some careful contemplation regarding my professed desire for summertime joie de vivre, I decided to head up to Maine for a long weekend. This summer has been a complete 180 from last year's, and while I've so appreciated the special focus on family, I've also missed my time in my favorite place. I think a few days away will be a much needed refresh. See you next week!

We made it to the end of the week. This was a busy one for me with a bunch of family dinners (including celebrating my dad's birthday on Wednesday) and I feel like I'm starting to get reorganized and on top of things. It's funny (pathetic?) how sometimes something as little as dropping off dry cleaning makes you feel like you have your shit together.

The temps are supposed to rise this weekend (along with the dreaded humidity) and I'm looking forward to more family time in the western part of the state along with some much needed poolside relaxation.

Have a great weekend!

happy weekend.

* I was going through old photos on my computer and came across this one I took during my last sister trip to Chicago--really makes me want to go back, even in the dead of winter.

For the first time since law school, I have President's Day off and I am so looking forward to a three-day weekend--although, of course, I caught a nasty cold (nothing that copious amounts of bourbon can't fix). I'm headed up to Maine with Olive and my parents, and I'm hoping to get my act in gear and do some house stuff on Monday. I also need to do a 8-mile run (if my cold permits)--I was doing okay with the whole half marathon training until I decided to take a week and a half off out of pure laziness. Not good.

Another weekend, another trip to Maine--this time I'm headed up to York for a little girl time with my sister and mom, which is a huge treat because we rarely get up there all together. Looking forward to the usual overload of wine and seafood (and some Olive snuggles thrown in for good measure).

Happy weekend!

I know it's only Thursday, but I'm off to Maine for three glorious days. Looking forward to some cocktails, oysters, and general relaxation. Happy weekend!

I'm so glad it's Friday--it seems like this week was dragging on forever. A plus was that I'm slowly getting back into a workout routine since my surgery: I went horseback riding, did a couple of pure barre classes and am planning on getting a run in tomorrow...and speaking of running:

My sister is running a marathon on Sunday! I'm so incredibly proud of her--she worked so hard all summer and I know she is going to be amazing. I'll be by her side carb loading and celebrating. It's what I do best.

Happy weekend.
